Agroforestry is a powerful tool for boosting climate resilience, restoring degraded landscapes and biodiversity, and enhancing livelihood.  We will present the multiple roles of agroforestry in contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and local livelihoods in fragmented landscapes from studies in Africa. The talk will introduce both traditional agroforestry practices the Gedo home garden cultural landscapes (southern Ethiopia) and different introduced agroforestry practices in Eastern Africa and will address the need to establish living labs as key biodiversity and climate observatories.
